| What forms of payment do you accept? |
 |
| |
We accept cash, check or money orders. Regretfully,
we are not able to accept credit card payments at this time. |
 |
| I've changed my mind, can I get a refund? |
 |
| |
If you’re class has not yet started, we will be happy
to give you a refund or move you to another start date. Once the class starts
however, we cannot give refunds; in case of an emergency, we will hold your application
and allow you to restart the class within 1 year. |
 |
| Where are you located and how long will it take
me to get there? |
 |
| |
We are within 5 minutes of the I-270 / Alum Creek Drive exit.
For exact directions please visit our How to Find Us section. |
 |
| Can I visit you facility and see a class in action
before making a commitment? |
 |
| |
Yes, please do. We recommend you call first to make sure
it is a regular training night and find out what time the class your interested
in will be happening. |
 |
| Can I drop off / pickup a class application rather
than mailing it? |
 |
| |
You are welcome to do so, our facility is open from 6:00
to 9:00 PM Monday through Thursday. |
 |
| Exactly what vaccinations do you require? |
 |
| |
For the Puppy Kindergarten class puppies must have had their
1st and 2nd DHLP-P as well as their 1st corona and bordetella vaccines. For the
beginning obedience class dogs must have had their DHL-PP, corona, bordetella
and rabies vaccines. |
 |
| My dog / puppy has not had one of the required
shots, can you make an exception? |
 |
| |
We do not allow dogs or puppies into our classes without
the required vaccines and we will not make exceptions to the rule. Remember,
the vaccination history form does not have to be sent in with your application
so you can wait and bring it with you the first night of class however, should
you forget it, your dog or puppy will not be allowed into the building. |
 |
| What if I have to miss a class? |
 |
| |
Make up classes are not available however, you will have
your instructors’ phone number and can contact them to find out what you
missed and a copy of the weekly class handouts will be saved for you. Remember,
you must be present for the first class. |
 |
| Can my child train our dog? |
 |
| |
Children must be at least 12 years old and be able to control
the dog. A 60 pound child and an 80 pound dog won’t work! |
 |
| My dog is 10 years old, is he too old for the
class? |
 |
| |
There is no truth to the old wife’s tale that you can’t
teach an old dog new tricks. We regularly have 10 and 12 year old dogs attend
class and they do an excellent job. |
 |
| Can I bring guests? |
 |
| |
Guests are welcome at anytime however you may not bring other
pets and children must be well-mannered and supervised at all times. |
 |
| My dog / puppy is totally out of control. Will
the class help him and are you sure I should bring him? |
 |
| |
We often find that owners are embarrassed by their dog’s
antics but keep in mind, we’ve been doing this for over 40 years so there
isn’t anything your dog can do that we haven’t seen before. It all
depends on you. We think you’ll be amazed at how much your dog can learn
in one short session of classes if you honestly try to work with the dog in class
and do the homework assignments. |
 |
| I am looking for the type of class that allows
me to drop the dog off to be trained. Do you do that? |
 |
| |
No we don’t. Our goal is to teach you to train your
dog so he will respond to you and you will have the knowledge to deal with any
future problems. Training your dog to respond to one of our instructor’s
commands will not necessarily make him any more responsive to you than he was
in the past. |
 |
| What happens after I complete the first class? |
 |
| |
We hope you will consider going on to the next class and
further training your dog. Once you complete the beginning obedience class or
puppy kindergarten I and II you will be given an opportunity to join the club.
Members pay annual dues of $85 ($100 for a family) and may take all the classes
they want for free. We could keep you busy for many years in our numerous advanced
obedience and agility classes. |
 |
| My dog has had some training but I’m not
sure if we can pass the test to come into the club as a “transfer” member.
What do you recommend? |
 |
| |
Many dogs benefit from taking the beginning class because
it gives them a chance to acclimate to a large training building while doing
fairly easy training. However, there is no harm in coming to the club and trying
to test out of the class, the worst thing that can happen is you're told you need
to take the beginning class. |
