Description |
| Attention I |
Teaches the heads up, focused attention seen
in competition dogs while heeling. Has also proven beneficial for many other
aspects of training (a dog who pays attention to his handler can learn anything
faster!). Prerequisites: dog able to do a 30 second sit stay, mandatory attendance
at all classes, and no heeling in other classes as we redefine the word for
these dogs. |
| Attention II |
A continuation of Attention I that focuses
on each of the separate aspects of heeling (ie - perfect about turns,
halts, slows, etc). It also reviews a different facets of the novice routine
each
week. Prerequisites: completion of Attention I. |
| Flyball |
Teaches the dog to correctly execute a flyball
course for competition. This is not truly a specialty class because it is
offered on a regular basis on Friday nights. Contact Bill Austin for more
information. Prerequisites: off-lead control of dog. |
| Off-Lead Control |
Teaches the techniques needed to get an instant
on or off lead response to the basic obedience commands sit, down, stay and
come no matter the location or level of distraction. Also introduces some
additional, useful commands such as targeting and marking. Prerequisites:
none |
| Retrieve |
Teaches the 3 main parts (hold, take it, and
give) of an enforceable retrieve. An excellent class to take before moving
into the Open class since the retrieve is what most often delays progress
on the other exercises. Prerequisites: none |
